avocado oil
from mashing slices of avocados along some mayi moulin and aransò;
drinking it whole in a quick power smoothie;
spreading its love all on my face and tresses;
or enjoying it as a cooking oil...
avocados and i have history. and quite frankly i don’t know any haitians who don’t. some 30 years in, it’s still a staple in my home as a nutritious powersource: not only internally, but topically too.
*there’s much you can learn about avocados by simply googling it, and there’s even more you could learn by experiencing it for yourself...really & truly observing how your body (skin/hair included) receives and interacts with it in all its forms...taking notes, & moving in tune.
on my end, without getting lost in the jargon, this is what i’m learning so far…
when used on our skin/hair, avocado brings many blessings like:
oleic acid: a typa fat that strengthens our skin/hair’s bounce back game
vitamin A: balances our skin’s natural oil
vitamin B: regulates skin/hair pigmentation, and encourages ‘em to heal
vitamin C: protects the skin from environmental nonsense
vitamin D: supports new growth
vitamin E: ensures our skin/hair stay renewed, moisturized and at ease
lecithin: enhances our skin/hair’s ability to absorb, and bond to any bit of moisture dancing away in the air
and really, i can keep going…
but overall, just from these nutrients alone, avocado oil can not only cleanse our skin/hair… sink deep into ‘em with life-giving goodness… but also reinforce ‘em against our not-so-healthy choices.
avocado oil is very gentle in scent…nutty… and soft.
if you’d like to see what it’s like to the touch? watch me experience it here @nannanmeup.
the avocado oil used is pURE, ORGANIC, and UNREFINED. personally, my skin soaks it up rather quickly. within about 10 minutes, if even. but there’s still a supple finish…as tho my skin is still welcoming all of nola’s moist air hours later. i’ve learned tho, when avocado oil is mixed with a heavier oil or butter, it extends its absorption. and that’s just how my skin has been lovin’ it.
and if you really about quality skin/hair for real, for real, enjoying avocados internally is even better as even more of its nutrients are absorbed this way! if you’d like some easy tips (or know of some, yourself) on how to include avocado into your self-care rituals and/or meals do link up below. I’ve been learning some tings. the more i innerstand avocados, the more i receive ‘em with gratitude. and surely mama earth deserves all the praise for her creations.

may more peace and blessings find you always, and in all ways,
